Sheriff's Dept. looking for suspects in vehicle break-ins

BUTLER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - The Butler County Sheriff's Department announced Tuesday they are looking for a suspect or suspects in some vehicle break-ins at churches.

According to Sheriff Mark Dobbs, Fellowship General Baptist was targeted a couple of weeks ago and Agee Fellowship Church was hit over the weekend.

The sheriff said the suspect is targeting vehicles in church parking lots during Sunday services. He said they are breaking car windows and stealing items out of the vehicles.

Local blood drives, American Red Cross offers online rewards program

(KFVS) - This fall the American Red Cross will be offering the Red Cross Racing, an online rewards program for blood donors in the Missouri-Illinois region.

The Red Cross says after their donation, donors can go to RedCrossRacing.com and report their donation. Members will be awarded Donor Rewards points for each donation, which will be exchanged for exclusive racing merchandise such as: die-cast cars, t-shirts and golf bags. Donors can also convert these points into Best Buy Reward Zone points, up to 800 Reward Zone points for each donation.

  • Sept. 12 - American Legion Hall, North High Street, Jackson, MO, 1:30 PM to 6:30 PM
  • Sept. 12 - Oran High School, 310 Church Street, Oran, MO, 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM

Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center wins relocation approval

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center announced Monday their application to relocate its new 250-bed hospital in the Eight Points development district was unanimously approved by the Missouri Health Facilities Review Committee.

The Missouri Health Facilities Review Committee delayed the oringinal hearing back in July.

"This is a significant day for Poplar Bluff and we are thankful for all the support the community has given us," said Greg Carda, Chief Executive Officer of Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Benefit for the restoration of stairway from depot to Main Street

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - Altrusa International Inc. will host a Tables Scapes/Tea to benefit the restoration of the stairway from the Union Pacific Depot to Main Street on Saturday, September 10.

The event will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall located at 500 North Main in Poplar Bluff. The $10 tickets can be bought from any Poplar Bluff Altrusan or at the door.

The public is invited to come and vote for their favorite table.
