Patrons bringing holiday children's show to Tinnin Fine Arts Center | Arts & Culture
POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - Three Rivers College will host a performance of "A Gnome for Christmas" at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on Saturday, December 1 at 7 p.m.
Admission is $10 per person. The college says in honor of the holidays, each child attending the performance will be entered into a drawing for a $50 Walmart gift card.
The show is part of the Patrons of the Arts 2012-13 season. It is a production of the Imaginary Theater Company, the resident, professional, touring ensemble of The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis. Through the use of literature, folk tales, fairy tales, and new adaptations of classic works, The Imaginary Theatre Company is committed to providing the finest in theater for young audiences.
“A Gnome for Christmas” is a children’s musical based on a Scandinavian folktale, said Tinnin Center Director Robert Cook. The story follows Lulu, a lonely girl who moves into a rundown farmhouse with her quirky inventor dad. There, Lulu meets an ancient, magical gnome who shows her the importance of helping others. Cook said the show is appropriate for all ages and family audiences.
“This is the third season that the Patrons of the Arts Society has scheduled the Imaginary Theater Company to come from St. Louis to present children’s shows,” Cook said. “The audience response is always fantastic. Children and their parents truly enjoy these imaginative performances.”
Because of financial support from Patrons of the Arts and show sponsor Kissinger and Kirkman Investment Centre, tickets are just $10. Tickets can be purchased online at trcc.edu/tinnin. Tickets also are available at the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce, Dexter Chamber of Commerce, Three Rivers College Financial Services Office and at the door.
