Local, small business Black Friday sales

Local, small business Black Friday sales

With the holidays coming up fast, Black Friday will be here before we know it.

Every year we hear about the craziness at big name stores like Walmart, Target, etc. As a change of pace, we want to hear from local, small businesses and others in the community!

Will you be having any Black Friday sales or deals? If so, what are they? What are some tips you can give to people in your community wanting to shop more "local?"

If you're a local restaurant, will you have different hours and specials to cater to the Black Friday shoppers?

Is anyone in the community: churches, community centers, etc. offering babysitting for those that will be out in the early a.m. for shopping?

You can e-mail Amber Ruch, County News Web Producer at aruch@kfvs12.com. The information you provide will be featured online and on-air. Make sure to include a picture or two of your business!

Over 300 business and community leaders from the region attended the festivities.

“Business continues to grow in our Southeast Missouri offices," said owner Stan Schultz. "Just 15 years ago we started off in a one-room building down the road, and now we are giving back to the folks who have been with us and supported our efforts all of these years. We love working in rural Missouri and to have so many community leaders show up and help us celebrate another great year of business was exciting.”

The festivities started at 5 p.m. with several people already waiting for the first batch of shrimp to finish cooking.

“The SSE folks sure know how to cook Cajun style," said State Representative Steve Cookson. "They put on a great party with some outstanding food."

(KFVS) - Starting July 1, Butler County Implement, Dexter Implement, French Implement, Malden Implement and Sikeston Implement will be changing their names to Greenway Equipment, Inc.

ConMac Missouri Investments bought each of the John Deere dealerships in 2009 and have operated them under current names until now. According to Greenway Equipment, Inc., the name change will match their current 17 dealership locations in Arkansas.

"We are very excited about getting a common name for all our locations," said Brad Nash, Regional VP. "This will greatly assist our marketing and branding efforts. The Greenway brand represents our commitment to our customers and our employees and we look forward to minimizing our customer's risk and growing their profits for years to come."

Nash says all personnel and operations will stay the same.

Public meeting held on rural broadband in Poplar Bluff

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - The availability of broadband and high speed internet was the hot top of a public meeting Wednesday in Poplar Bluff.

Ozark foothills revealed its plans and goals to help expand broadband service.

They want to help counties like Wayne and Ripley where a lot of people rely on satellite and dial up service.

"There is a belief that at some point the government will have to help subsidize this type of infrastructure and this type of service, as they did with telephone years ago," said Felicity Brady, Executive Director of the Ozark Foothills Planning Commission.  For providers themselves, it's just not going to be financially feasible for them to go into those more remote areas to provide that service."

After today's meeting the group will have more public meetings and plan to present their findings to state and federal lawmakers to discuss the next step.
