BUTLER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers at Wappapello Lake is proud to announce the Pine Ridge Nature Trail is reopened for public use.
The trail head was devastated as a result of the Great Regional Flood of 2011 which made accessibility of the trail nearly impossible. The new trail head is located to the east of the fish cleaning station parking area just off Highway T.
The Corps says the Pine Ridge Trail is a double loop trail (half-mile and three quarter-mile) which meanders along the St. Francis River and Redman Creek Campground. It is part of the National Recreation Trails System and is adopted by Wappapello Boy Scouts Pack #416.
Other trails available for your enjoyment at Wappapello Lake are Lost Creek Nature Trail (half-mile watchable wildlife loop adopted by Sierra Osage), Johnson Tract (five-mile loop), Memory Lane Historic Walk (one-mile loop), and Ozark Trail (33-mile also equestrian and non-motorized bikes). They are all ready for you to enjoy.
