Poplar Bluff Schools speech teachers recognized | Community Spirit
POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - May is Better Hearing and Speech Month, according to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
In accordance, the Poplar Bluff R - I school district has chosen this month to recognize it's speech teachers.
The team of speech-language pathologists at Poplar Bluff Schools play a crucial role in helping the district reach its mission: Achieving excellence through learning: every child, every hour, every day.
This year, Donna Baller of the 5th & 6th Grade Center was named Middle School Grade Span Teacher of the Year.
The previous school year, Judy Seawel of the Kindergarten Center was named District Teacher of the Year.
In 2008, Jeanine Bradley of the Early Childhood Center received the same honor.
“One of the most awesome things about this profession is being able to witness a child, who’s been without the ability to communicate, say his or her first word,” said Sharon Burkey, another Early Childhood Center speech teacher.
