Bible time youth crusade comes to Poplar Bluff

BUTLER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - Westwood Baptist Church is presenting Neighborhood Bible Time from July 23 to July 27.

Activities for students from first to sixth grades will be from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and activities for junior and senior high school students will be evenings from 6 p.m.  to 9:30 p.m.

Westwood is located at 419 County Road 5231, located across the highway from Larry Hillis Dodge on Hwy 67 North.

Poplar Bluff church to celebrate 25th anniversary

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - Westwood Baptist Church of Poplar Bluff will be celebrating their 25th anniversary on Sunday, July 15 during their 9:45 a.m. service.

Pastor Steve Proctor is inviting people to join them for their service. The church's founding pastor, Dr. Ken Keathley, will be the gues speaker.

The church is located at 419 County Road 5231 across the highway from Larry Hillis Dodge.

BUTLER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - Butler County Fair events for Saturday, July 7 are available.

Events include:

  • 5K Race - Courthouse Gazebo. 6 a.m. registration and and 7 a.m. race
  • Bicycle race/parade - Courthouse Gazebo. 8 a.m. registration, 8:30 a.m. parade and 9 a.m. race
  • 4-H Rodeo - Clinton Park Arena. 9 a.m. slack and 7 p.m. performance
  • Beauty Pageant - 5th and 6th grade center. Doors open at 10 a.m.
  • Butler County Fair BBQ Cookoff - 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • BBQ Cookoff Judging - Clinton Park. 3 p.m. awards.

Poplar Bluff Veterans Council donates to Welcome Home event

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - The Poplar Bluff Veterans Council recently made a donation to the John J. Pershing Medical Center for the Fourth Annual "Welcome Home" Celebration.

The Welcome Home event honors all Veterans who have served America, and is scheduled for September 29, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

Attractions will include a car show, live music, restored military vehicles, hot dogs and sodas, and much more.

The event is free to the public and all items and activities are provided courtesy of generous donors such as the Poplar Bluff Veterans Council.

Summer cover photo contest begins for County News Facebook pages

Summer cover photo contest begins for County News Facebook pages

The official start of summer is Wednesday, June 20 and that means it's time to switch out our cover photos for the County News Facebook pages.

Starting Wednesday, June 18 you can submit a photo that you think best represents summer in your county. You can e-mail the photo to cNews@kfvs12.com or click here to upload them. With the photo, make sure to include your name, what county it represents and where in that county the picture was taken.

On Monday, July 2 submissions for the contest will end and we will put all of the photos into a slideshow for each county. Viewers can then vote for which photo they want to see as that county's Facebook cover photo.

BUTLER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - A Fourth of July fireworks display will be during the Butler County Fair.

The fair is from July 4-14 and the fireworks show will be at 9 p.m.
