POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - The Masonic Service Association recently donated calendars for Veterans at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center.

Ladies Auxiliaries, Elks donate to VAlentines for Veterans Concert fund

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - The Poplar Bluff Elks and Dexter American Legion Ladies Auxiliary recently donated to the VAlentines for Veterans Concert fund.

The VAlentines for Veterans Concert will be held Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Black River Coliseum and will feature Aaron Tippin. There is no admission charge as “the price has been paid” by our Veterans.

Local groups such as the Elks, Dexter Ladies Auxiliary Unit 59 and VFW 6477 Ladies Auxiliary provide support to ensure the concert can be held.

Registration open for the 7th Annual Polar Plunge Feb. 2

(KFVS) - The 7th Annual Polar Plunge will take place February 2.

Brave men and women from around the area will don costumes and swimwear and take “polar” dips into Lake Boutin. Their Reason for Freezin’ is the athletes of Special Olympics Missouri. All proceeds from this year’s event will benefit training and competition for the 1,100 Special Olympics Missouri athletes here in the Southeast Area.    

The Polar Plunge is open to anyone 10 years or older who is a fan of having a good time for a good cause. The event is hosted by Cape Girardeau Police Department and will take place at the Lake Boutin, 429 Moccasin Springs, Jackson, Mo. Day-of registration begins at noon and the Plunge starts at 2 p.m.

Ribbon cutting, community open house scheduled for new Poplar Bluff hospital

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center will hold a ribbon cutting on Friday, January 18 at 11 a.m.

The ribbon cutting will be at 3100 Oak Grove Road to celebrate the opening of their new hospital.

A Community Open House with hospital tours will be Saturday, January 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Ag Expo 2013 returns to the Black River Coliseum

Ag Expo 2013 returns to the Black River Coliseum

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - One of the area's most popular yearly events is once again coming to the the Black River Coliseum in Poplar Bluff.

This year's Ag Expo will be held Jan. 18 and 19, Friday from 1 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Admission is free to the public.

This year's expo features over 118 agricultural exhibits.

There will be a duck calling contest on Friday at 6 p.m., a milking contest for three different youth divisions Friday at 5:30 p.m., toy tractor pedal-pulling contests for girls and boys in three age divisions, and seven different Ag Expo beauty pageants.

VA Medical Center held its annual 'Run for the Fallen' in Nov.

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - The John J. Pershing VA Medical Center held its annual “Run for the Fallen” event was November 10.

The 5K run and one-mile walk honors fallen soldiers. Proceeds from the run go to the Veterans Recreation Fund.

The men’s division winner was Bailey Davidson and the women’s division winner was Allison Huskey. Pictured with the winners is Kevin Ellis, voluntary service assistant and coordinator of the run.
