Poplar Bluff man pleads guilty to unlawful possession of firearms

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - A Poplar Bluff man has pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of firearms.

Ronald Keith Garrett, Jr., 26, pleaded guilty to one felony count of being previously convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

He appeared before United States District Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh, Jr.

With the plea, Garrett admitted on April 23, 2011 he burglarized Henson Farm Supply Store in Williamsville, Missouri and stole eight firearms.

Due to Garrett's prior felony convictions, he is prohibited from possessing firearms and now faces a maximum punishment of 10 years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.

Sentencing has been set for August 27, 2012.

The case was investigated by the Wayne County Sheriff's Department, the Poplar Bluff Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Assistant United States Attorney Keith D. Sorrell is handling the prosecution for the government.
