Man arrested on burglary charges after homeowner finds him in his kitchen | Crime
POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - A man was arrested Thursday morning after a homeowner was getting ready for work and found the suspect in his kitchen.
Jeremy William Bailey, 32, was arrested on one count of burglary in the first degree. His last known address was Potosi, Mo.
According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, dispatch received a 911 call of a burglar in progress at a home in the 2800 block of Vaugh Ave. at 7:59 a.m. Thursday.
Officers responded and were told by the homeowner that he was getting ready for work when he found a white male wearing a black shirt and carrying a backpack in his kitchen. He says the suspect, Bailey, ran out the back door and into a wooded area northwest of his home.
Officer Jim Gerber set up a perimeter and called for additional officers. The police department and members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol conducted an area search and arrested Bailey. He was taken to the Butler County Jail and during an interview with detectives, police say he admitted that he unlawfully entered the home, encountered the homeowner and ran from the scene.
