BUTLER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Wappapello Lake announced the opening and closing dates of their recreation facilities for 2013.

2 new volunteer programs at Missouri State Parks

MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - Missouri state parks have added two new programs to allow groups to volunteer at state parks and historic sites.

Families, organizations, youth groups, school groups and businesses the opportunity to support a Missouri state park or historic site through the newly added Adopt-a-Park and Youth Volunteer Patch programs.

Groups can adopt areas within a park or historic site, such as trails, campgrounds, picnic areas and streams.

Groups are asked to contribute 200 hours of service hours a year for two years.

QULIN, MO (KFVS) - A burn ban order is in effect until further notice for residents of Qulin, Mo.

According to the Qulin City Clerk, Melissa Birchfield the mayor is issuing this order because of the dry conditions.

Qulin Fire Chief Zane Clark tells Heartland News they have been called out to a couple of small field/brush fires lately and hope the burn ban will deter residents from burning and keep everyone safe.

New mobile site helps travelers plan just in time for spring

(KFVS) - Tuesday, March 20 is the first day of spring and the Missouri Division of Tourism announces you can now access their new mobile version on VisitMo.com in to time for travelers to plan trips.

The mobile site m.VisitMO.com, is compatible with iPhones and Android-based phones, and allows users to access thousands of attractions, events, restaurants, shops and lodging options in Missouri. According to MDT, all you have to remember is VisitMO.com; the site will automatically render the mobile version for users on a mobile phone. Tablet users will default to the full version, as larger tablet screens are better suited for the full-site experience.

If you haven't already seen it, be sure to look at the skies after dark to see a picture it is providing at this time.

You will find a  nice bright crescent moon. On Sunday, to the left  of the moon is the planet Jupiter, and to the bottom of the moon is the planet Venus which is a little brighter than the planet Jupiter. You don't want to miss it.
