'Scare Your Fear' 5K for Sarah White Memorial Scholarship | Events
POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - "Scare Your Fear," a 5K run to raise money for the Sarah White Memorial Scholarship, will begin at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, October 20 at Three Rivers College.
Participants can run an individual 5K or team up with a friend or loved one in a 2-Person Relay at this scholarship fund-raiser in honor of Sarah White, who lost her battle with cancer but inspired others with her motto, "I Scare Cancer."
Registration begins at 3:30 pm. in front of the Bess Activity Center on the Three Rivers Poplar Bluff campus.
Runners will be bused to the starting line on Shelby Road by the new hospital. The course is along Shelby Road to the outer road at Cripple Creek, onto PP Highway for a few hundred feet, than onto Hershel Bess Blvd and through the Three Rivers campus to end at the Bess Activity Center.
Fee is $15 for individual 5K, $25 per team for the relay. The entry fee includes a T-shirt, while supplies last, and a wish lantern on which the participant can write a wish. The lanterns will be released at 6:30 p.m.
Proceeds will fund an annual Three Rivers scholarship in Sarah White's name allowing her legacy to live on.
Sarah's battle with cancer was the epitome of facing fears, as evidenced by her skydiving with "I Scare Cancer" written on her helmet.
