Poplar Bluff police to conduct annual Halloween Sex Offender Compliance Check

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - The Poplar Bluff Police Department will conduct their annual Halloween Sex Offender Compliance Check on October 31.

The police department says officers will confirm registration information on as many compliant offenders as possible, and will confirm that certain offenders are following Halloween-related restrictions (RSMo 589.426).

On Halloween, Oct. 31, sex offenders convicted after Aug. 28, 2008 are required to:

  • Avoid all Halloween related contact with children;
  • Remain inside their residence between 5:00 pm and 10:30 pm, unless they have just cause to leave; and
  • They must post a sign outside their residence which reads "No candy or treats at this residence," and leave all outside residential lights off during the evening hours.

Police say "No Candy or Treats at this Residence" signs are available free of charge at the front desk of the Poplar Bluff Police Department.
