Poplar Bluff woman wins $48,500 in lottery | News
POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - A Poplar Bluff woman has claimed $48,500 in the Show Me Cash jackpot.
Anna Amrhein bought one Quick Pick ticket for each game on Jan. 21. Her Show Me Cash ticket matched all five winning numbers that night to give her a share of the $97,000 jackpot.
“I didn’t even know how much it (jackpot) was, I just bought one,” said Amrhein. “I usually get a Lotto, and then I’ll get a Show Me Cash, too.”
According to the Missouri Lottery, the Quick Pick ticket Amrhein bought at Huck's Food Store, 703 Westwood Blvd. in Poplar Bluff, was one of two tickets to match all five winning numbers on Jan. 21. The winning Show Me Cash numbers were: 19, 23, 27, 35 and 39.
The Missouri Lottery says the other winning ticket was sold in Raymore. Each store will receive a $500 bonus for selling a winning jackpot ticket.
They say Amrhein found out she had a winning ticket after scanning her ticket at a Check-A-Ticket machine. She said she quickly left the store and drove to her daughter's house, where her granddaughter helped her look up the numbers on Molottery.com.
"I'm still in shock," she said.
Amrhein traveled to the St. Louis Lottery office on Jan. 24 to claim her prize and made a day out of it. She visited her son who lives in the area, and she was joined by her sister, Melissa. She said they were going to Olive Garden and then out shopping.
The formerly-retired pharmacy technician said she would pay bills and try to hold on to a little. She is working part-time again to help ends meet and said she would keep playing the Lottery.
“Don’t give up,” said Amrhein. “I really was doubtful, but it does happen.”
