You can skip sales tax on energy efficient appliances April 19-25 | News

(KFVS) - Just in time for the 2012 Show-Me Green Sales Tax Holiday, you can buy qualifying Energy Star refrigerators, clothes washers, water heater, etc during the week of April 19-25 and skip the state sales tax.

The Citizens Electric Corporation says qualifying appliances include:

• Clothes washers
• Clothes dryers
• Trash compactors
• Water heaters
• Dishwashers
• Conventional ovens
• Ranges
• Stoves
• Air conditioners
• Furnaces
• Refrigerators
• Freezers

According to Citzens Electric, if you schedule an energy audit before the tax holiday, CEC will reimburse up to $200 for equipment upgrades. You can call Member Services at 877-876-3511 for more information or to make an appointment.

Citizens Electric also sponsors a refrigerator recycling program. Through an agreement with JACO Environmental, you can have your old refrigerator or freezer picked up for free and receive $35 for each unit once it has been recycled. Appliances must be in working order, and there is a limit of five units per member. Call 877-395-5535 to schedule a pickup.
