Another Facebook video shows teens fighting in Butler County | News
BUTLER COUNTY, MO (KFVS)-
For the second time in as many days, a video of a fight on Facebook is going viral.
This time it happened in Butler County.
The video shows two teens ages 18 and 19 in a knockdown fight in a parking lot as a group of people cheer them on.
The sheriff says it happened over the weekend.
Investigators are going after charges on four people in connection with the fight: both girls, a father, and another man.
In the video you can hear what appears to be a parent cheering on his daughter.
We are told prosecutors are looking at possible assault charges against that father, both girls Dylan McClane and Emily Douglas, and also J. C. Austin.
Apparently the girls agreed to meet near a flea market near Highway T and Highway 60 over the weekend to fight it out over a boy.
Investigators say charges could come in connection with assault, but not over posting the video. Apparently there are no laws against posting videos of a fight like this one, but deputies feel there should be.
Authorities say they actually found out about the fight through the parties involved before it went on online.
"It's pretty shocking," said Sgt. Brandon Waggoner, a Butler County Sheriff's deputy. "You'd think a parent would try to stop a fight not help instigate it."
Authorities say Facebook is changing the way they do their jobs.
"It can help us find out a lot more about people and situations and directions we should go," said Sgt. Waggoner.
Heartland News tried to contact both sides of the fight. Emily Douglas did not return our calls. Meanwhile, McClane's mother says she was shocked when she allegedly heard Douglas's dad cheering on the fight.
Sheriff Mark Dobbs says he's still baffled people continue to glamorize fighting by posting videos like this online.
