MoDOT: Grant money available to law enforcement to improve road safety | News
MO (KFVS) - The Southeast Regional Coalition for Roadway Safety is now accepting grant applications from law enforcement agencies to fund activities and tools needed to reduce fatalities on our roadways.
The Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety is a partnership of safety advocates including law enforcement agencies, health care providers, state and federal government agencies, planning organizations and advocacy groups that work to reduce fatal and serious injury crashes in Missouri.
These grants can be used to cover the cost of overtime for checkpoints, saturation patrols and law enforcement, as well as for equipment to assist with enforcement, such as radar guns and intoximeters. Applications will be accepted through Sunday, Sept. 30.
Funding is provided on a greatest needs basis. The number of fatalities and disabling injuries within the enforcement area, funding already received by federal highway safety, the proposed impact of the request on reducing fatalities and injuries, verification of a departmental seatbelt policy and agency involvement with the Coalition will be considered.
The application process is simple, and are available upon request. Applications are also available at http://www.savemolives.com/southeast/index.html. For more information please contact:
