Doniphan nursing student awarded $1,000 scholarship | News
DONIPHAN, MO (KFVS) - A Doniphan nursing student has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship by the Three Rivers Community College Foundation.
Eleisha Renae March, a fourth-semester student in the Three Rivers nursing program, will receive the Dr. A.D. Madduri Memorial Scholarship established by the family of the late Poplar Bluff obstetrician.
March plans to complete her Associate of Applied Science degree in nursing at Three Rivers College in May and then continue working toward a bachelor’s degree in nursing through either Central Methodist University or Southeast Missouri State University.
March holds two part-time jobs -- one at E&S Pharmacy and the other at American In-Home Service, both located in Doniphan.
March, 35, is a 1995 graduate of Doniphan High School.
Dr. Aruna D. Madduri, who died in 2002, was in practice at Kneibert Clinic for many years and was one of the earliest female physicians in Poplar Bluff. She strongly encouraged women to pursue careers in healthcare at all levels and championed the cause of equal treatment for women in those fields, according to her family.
