PBHS students accepted into MO Fine Arts Academy | News
POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - Two Poplar Bluff High School students have been accepted into the Missouri Fine Arts Academy.
Sophomore Karemenah Adams [right], the daughter of Charles and Gabrielle Adams; and junior Alexa Miller [left], the daughter of Mike and Kim Miller, will attend the intensive classes June 9-29 at Missouri State University in Springfield.
Nominated by theater teacher Jo Nell Seifert, Alexa, who will study theater, has appeared in the plays “Brighton Beach Memoirs,” “Blood Brothers,” “James and the Giant Peach,” “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” and “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.” She also worked on the costume crew for “Greater Tuna.”
Nominated by director of vocal music Brenda Allen, Karemenah, who will study vocal music, has had roles in the musicals “Fiddler on the Roof,” “The Music Man” and “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.” She has been selected for All-District Choir four times, and in October was chosen to participate in the Quad State Choral Festival at Murray State University in Kentucky.
Both students are members of the Drama Club and the International Thespian Society. Karemenah is also a member of the Student Council and Concert Choir, while Alexa is a member of the Beta Club as well as a varsity cheerleader.
