American Red Cross asks you to share your favorite memory

American Red Cross asks you to share your favorite memory

(KFVS) - In honor of March being Red Cross Month, the American Red Cross is asking you to share your favorite Red Cross memory.

All month long, they will be looking for special, personal stories of hope. You can tell them what it was like to volunteer or why it's meaningful to you to give when disaster strikes.

The Red Cross says whether you’ve donated in the aftermath of a disaster, given blood, taken a class or received help in an emergency, everyone’s got a story to share – one that could inspire others to make a difference, too.

You can click here to submit your story online.

For more information, you can visit the American Red Cross online at www.redcross.org.

BUTLER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - State Treasurer Clint Zweifel announced Tuesday that there is one unclaimed property account in Butler County

In addition, Zweifel said two St. Louis area women received unclaimed property worth $700,000 and $110,000.

Zweifel said the $700,000 return is the second return over $500,000 to an individual this fiscal year. He said what is thought to be the single largest return to a business or person in the nation's history happened in November when $6.1 million was returned to a Kansas City woman.

He said the recipients' names are not being released for privacy reasons.

“One in 10 Missourians has Unclaimed Property and clearly these two did very well, I am sure they can put it to use,” Treasurer Zweifel said. “I want folks to know there is a strong chance they or someone they know is owed Unclaimed Property, and right now there is $600 million waiting.”

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - A Poplar Bluff woman has claimed $48,500 in the Show Me Cash jackpot.

Anna Amrhein bought one Quick Pick ticket for each game on Jan. 21. Her Show Me Cash ticket matched all five winning numbers that night to give her a share of the $97,000 jackpot.

“I didn’t even know how much it (jackpot) was, I just bought one,” said Amrhein. “I usually get a Lotto, and then I’ll get a Show Me Cash, too.”

According to the Missouri Lottery, the Quick Pick ticket Amrhein bought at Huck's Food Store, 703 Westwood Blvd. in Poplar Bluff, was one of two tickets to match all five winning numbers on Jan. 21. The winning Show Me Cash numbers were: 19, 23, 27, 35 and 39.

The Missouri Lottery says the other winning ticket was sold in Raymore. Each store will receive a $500 bonus for selling a winning jackpot ticket.
