2 new scholarships endowed at Three Rivers | Schools
POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - The Three Rivers Endowment Trust has announced the endowment of two new scholarships.
The scholarships are in honor of Norma Hufstedler of Doniphan, Missouri.
The scholarships will be awarded to students from Doniphan and Ripley County who attend Three Rivers College full time.
“We’re pleased to honor Mrs. Hufstedler’s legacy in the community through this endowment,” said Dr. Devin Stephenson, President of Three Rivers College. “Not only will these scholarships help to promote higher education in the area immediately, but we hope to be able to grow the endowment with the help of partners in the community.”
According to the college, Hufstedler has dedicated her life to education in southeast Missouri, spending 38-years teaching Doniphan’s middle school and high school students. She obtained her bachelor’s in math education from Arkansas State University in 1960, and earned a Master’s in math and science education from North Texas University in 1964.
Three Rivers says both scholarships are available to Doniphan R-1 students seeking a math, science, engineering, education, or nursing degree. The second scholarship is also available to any veteran of the armed forces from Ripley County. Applicants must also possess at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA to qualify.
Scholarship recipients who maintain at least a 3.0 can renew the scholarship each year. For more information, or to apply for the scholarship, contact Emily Parks at 573-840-9077.
